Finally! But it's just the beginning!

We have finally finished painting the library. It's all blue now. It's only taken us 6 months. We'll post pictures when we get a chance. Maybe.

Now, we need to paint my office (pink), repaint the front bedroom (sunny yellow) and the kitchen / den / eating area (some color of green we're not sure of, got it off the Oops! rack). We still need to fix the hole in the sheetrock in the hallway. We need to get the windows sheetrocked over. We need a new roof. Or at least a repair. We need to remove some of the cabinets in the kitchen to move the refrigerator and freezer in there. We need to sheetrock the back room (once Paul's things are completely gone... he has until Saturday). There's a LOOOOONNNGGG list of things to do!

If I can get someone to show me HOW to do the things, I can do them. Too bad Tim's not the 'handyman' type. My brothers have the brawn, but they aren't very 'handyman-ish' either.

Maybe I can read up on how to do the things and let the brawny guys do all the work.

Yeah, right.

I'm too OCD for that to happen. I have to be right in the middle of everything. I won't even let poor Tim put together a bookcase by himself. Maybe he's glad about that? I don't know. I should ask him. Or not.

Anyway, we're in the midst of getting things done in the house.

The outside is a whole 'nother story!!

Supper with the Cain's

Tim and I decided to take Mom, Mom Cain and Pa Cain to supper. For Pa's birthday and Mother's Day.

We weren't sure where we wanted to go. We had several options. Western Sizzlin'. Olive Garden. Texas Roadhouse. Logan's. Cracker Barrel.

We didn't know how we'd all get there either. With gas prices so high, we wanted to all go in one vehicle. But we know Mom Cain likes to sit in the front so she won't get sick. And the rest of us are pretty good sized. Well, besides Pa.

God has an amazing way of working things out, doesn't He? Turns out someone backed into my car.

Again. *grr*

This time, not so much damage, but enough to put it in the shop for a few days. And have insurance (not mine) pay for a rental. But the insurance company was going to pay for an "intermediate" size car. Do you know what they consider to be an "intermediate" size car?

A Ford Focus.

Yeah, right.

Could you see ME in a Ford Focus? I didn't think so. I couldn't either.

But for $5 more each day, I could upgrade to an Impala.

Great! Last time I had a new Impala. LOVED it! Kind of made us want to go buy a new car.

So, I get Jonathan to take us down to Enterprise in Seneca to pick it up. We had some errands to do in Seneca, and we were going to meet Chris and Judith in Clemson, so why double drive, right?

When we pulled into the parking lot, I didn't see an Impala.

But I saw that Ford Focus. Yikes!

I went in and the lady asked if she could help me. I told her I was here to pick up an Impala. I stressed the word "Impala" The guy I spoke with on the phone came up to the counter.

He told me the Impala didn't come in, but he could give me a mini-van for the same price. Good deal!

So, we ran around Seneca and Clemson to do our errands on Friday. We picked up Chris and Judith in Clemson Friday evening to head to the Jeff Dunham concert. (Completely hilarious, but he could tone down the language. A lot.)

Oh, the title of this post was something about supper, wasn't it? Yep, so it was.

Turns out we had a mini-van to go to supper in. Mom Cain could sit in the front. Poor Pa Cain had to sit in the very back. Sorry Pa. Mom sat in the middle. Tim took turns sitting with Mom in the middle seat and with Pa Cain in the back seat.

We went to Golden Corral. Yum! It was really good. We all ate (probably too much), then sat and socialized for a while. It was so much fun. All of you who live far away don't know what you're missing not being able to join us for supper. :)

So, God worked it out for us. I got to drive a new minivan for 5 days. I got my car fixed. (And they washed it too! Too bad they didn't vaccuum it out.) And we all were able to go to supper in one vehicle.

God is good, isn't He? Even in the small stuff.

We decided to play copy cat

We're always looking for easy ways to keep in touch. We buy cell phones. We create email addresses. Now we have a blog.

Thanks, Marla, for the idea.

You know, it's really funny. As hugely busy as we are, I don't feel like there's anything "post-worthy" for a blog.

What have we been up to?

We've been to two Braves games this season. And they've won BOTH of them! We'll be going to another in June with the Youth from church.

We've been busy trying to figure out how to get my uncle to come clean his stuff out of the back room of the house. (The Ballroom as Mom Cain calls it.) Finally, it took us sending him a letter telling him that we'd move his stuff to storage and send him the bill. Of course, he's not the one coming to get the stuff. He's sending his daughter. Doesn't matter to us as long as it's out of our way!!

We've been busy with church activities. I'm the Children's Director (and poor Tim has been elected my co-Director). We're planning a trip to the Greenville Zoo for the younger kids. And, as stated above, the Braves trip for the Youth. We have a Friday night church service now that we've been attending. VBS is coming up and so is the Men's Banquet (more about that - when I have time - in another post).

We're still trying to finish painting the library. (If you recall it was 3/4 finished when you guys were here at New Year's). It's still 3/4 finished. But we're hoping to have that finished this week so we can get that room put back in order. We've got lots of plans for the house. Now we're just waiting to win the lottery. And pray that the roof doesn't fall in before then!

I've got some wedding cakes / catering gigs on the calendar too.

I guess a lot of little things add up to a full calendar. We're going to pencil in massages for July..... 2012!!
